Following a meeting of the Council of Ministers, the bank holiday scheduled for Senior Race Day has now been moved to the end of August.
Originally, an amendment made to the Bank Holidays Act 1989 on May 4th 2020 by Mr Cannan, stated that the due to the cancellation of the 2020 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy that the public holiday associated with the last day of the festival would also be cancelled.
A petition then emerged asking for the reinstatement of the holiday. The government has denied that the announcement of the replacement holiday was in response to the petition and that it was always planned to observe the holiday at a later date.
The International Isle of Man T.T. (Tourist Trophy) Race is an annual motorcycle sport event that takes place on the Isle of Man, usually over the last week of May and first week of June. The Senior TT is the most prestigious event of the festival and takes place on the Friday of race week.
