The official birthday of the Yang Di Pertuan Agong has been moved to Moved Monday June 8th and from 2021, it will be observed on the first Monday of June.
The initial date for the celebration was Saturday June 6th 2020. Prior to 2020, the birthday had been observed on September 9th.
In a statement, Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Mohd Zuki Ali said: “The government has agreed that starting 2021 until the end of the reign of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, the official birthday will fall on the first Monday of June.”
The Yang Di Pertuan Agong , the Malaysian King, is one of the few elected monarchs in the world. The date of this holiday is ceremonial and may change depending on the birthday of the current King.
