The Kenya Ministry of Interior has responded to a widely circulated document that was promoted on social media as an official Kenya Gazette notice on the upcoming Diwali celebrations.
The Ministry led by CS Fred Matiang’i clarified that the document is a fake and that Monday remains a normal working day. Sunday October 27th is observed as Diwali in Kenya.
“Kindly ignore a gazette notice circulating on social media claiming Monday 28th October 2019 to be a public holiday. Monday 28th remains a normal working day,” a statement from the Ministry read.
Fake notices such as these are unfortunately common in Kenya. For the latest, objective dates of public holidays in Kenya, visit Office Holidays.
