One of the first states to do so, the Tamil Nadu government has announced the list of public holidays for 2020 under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
No big surprises in terms of holidays this year, a few of the Islamic holidays have shifted by a day but everything else is as anticipated by us
If previous years are anything to go by, we expect a few changes – for instance, if other states declare a holiday on the Friday before Deepavali, we would expect Tamil Nadu to do the same.
If you subscribe to our free calendar for Tamil Nadu, your favourite calendar programme will always reflect these latest holidays.
Of the 22* public holidays, seven holidays fall on either a Saturday or a Sunday.
*The annual closing of accounts for commercial banks and cooperative banks on April 1st is a holiday for banks.
