Indian Bank Holidays in August 2020

After a quiet July, August arrives with a plethora of bank holidays to look out for. The month is topped and tailed by the major Islamic Festivals of Bakrid (August 1st) and Ashura (August 29th/30th).

In the middle is the popular Hindu festival of Janmashtami, though nationwide disruption of Independence Day is restricted to a Saturday this year. Ganesh Chathurthi is on different dates in various states, but the dates are either the fourth Saturday or the Sunday afterwards.

In between these big holidays we have the usual smattering of regional holidays that will disrupt banking operations in several states.

In total, there are 15 days out of 31 that are affected by holidays.
