Indonesia Announces Public Holidays for 2027

Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Pratikno has today announced 18 national holidays and eight collective leave days for 2027, as designated in a joint ministerial decision.

“We have agreed to set 18 national holidays in 2027, mostly religious holidays, in addition to eight collective leave days in the same year,” Pratikno stated in a press conference here.

The national holiday designation has considered many factors, including fixed holidays and days needed to facilitate residents’ mobility on religious holidays.

The collective leave days will be mandatory for the civil apparatus, and they will be optional for the private sector, he noted.

According to the joint decision by the Religious Affairs Minister, Manpower Minister, and State Apparatus and Bureaucracy Reform Ministry, the days designated as national holidays and collective leave days in 2027 are as follows:

  • January 1 (Friday): New Year’s Day
  • January 5 (Tuesday): Isra Mi’raj of the Prophet Muhammad
  • February 6 (Saturday): Chinese New Year 2578 Kongzili
  • March 8 (Monday): Nyepi, the Balinese Day of Silence, marking the Saka New Year 1949
  • March 10 (Wednesday): Eid al-Fitr 1448 Hijri
  • March 11 (Thursday): Eid al-Fitr 1448 Hijri
  • March 26 (Friday): Good Friday
  • March 28 (Sunday): Easter Sunday
  • May 1 (Saturday): International Workers’ Day
  • May 6 (Thursday): Ascension Day
  • May 17 (Monday): Eid al-Adha 1448 Hijri
  • May 20 (Thursday): Vesak Day 2571 BE
  • June 1 (Tuesday): Pancasila Day
  • June 6 (Sunday): Islamic New Year 1449 Hijri
  • August 15 (Sunday): Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday
  • August 17 (Tuesday): Independence Day
  • December 25 (Saturday): Christmas Day
