The Government of Ghana has declared Friday July 31st 2020 as a public holiday to mark the Islamic festival of Eidul-Adha.
A press release signed by the Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery, stated: “the general public is hereby reminded that Friday, July 31, 2020, which marks Eid-al-Adha, is a statutory Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.”
The release also reminded the general public to remember to adhere to the Covid-19 safety protocols as they celebrate the Eid-al-Adha.
Eidul-Adha, also known as Eid al-Adha, is the Feast of Sacrifice and the most important feast in the Muslim calendar. It celebrates the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ishmael in submission to Allah’s command, before he was stopped by Allah.
