Bangladesh announces General Holidays to combat Coronavirus

The government of Bangladesh has declared holidays from Thursday March 26th to Saturday April 4th 2020 to prevent the transmission of coronavirus.

Cabinet secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam announced the decision from a meeting at the secretariat .

Members of army will assist the civil administration to maintain social distancing and strengthen the coronavirus preventive measures.

The secretary said the government has announced general holidays from March 26th to April 2nd while April 3rd and 4th are weekly holidays. Work is intended to resume on Sunday April 5th.

He added that kitchen markets, hospitals and pharmacies will remain open as usual.
