75th Anniversary of VE Day to be a public holiday in Jersey

Politicians in Jersey have agreed an additional day off on Friday May 8th 2020 to mark 75 years since Victory in Europe.

In contrast to the UK, which is moving the early May Bank Holiday from Monday May 4th to Friday May 8th, Jersey will keep the Monday bank holiday and observe an additional public holiday on the Friday.

The Friday is followed by the 75th Liberation Day which falls on a Saturday.

The Chief Minister’s proposal, described as a ‘one-off’, was unanimously adopted by the States Assembly with 39 votes.
