The Fijian Cabinet has endorsed a total of 11 public holidays for 2026.
The holidays include major religious, cultural, and national commemorations and will be formally declared by the Minister for Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations through a Gazette Notice.
The holidays are New Year’s Day, which falls on Thursday, Good Friday, which will be celebrated on the 3rd of April, Easter Saturday, which falls on the 4th of April and Easter Monday, which falls on the 6th of April.
Fiji will continue to mark Girmit Day which will be celebrated on the 15th of May and Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna Day on the 29th of May.
The Cabinet has indicated that Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday will be observed on the 24th of August and Fiji will celebrate its 56th Fiji Day on the usual date of October 10th.
The Festival of Lights, Diwali will be observed on the 9th of November.
Christmas Day will fall on a Friday and as 26th December is a Saturday, Boxing Day will be observed on the 28th of December, making it a long weekend.
