The Federal Authority For Government Human Resources (FAHR) has announced that the Hijri New Year holiday will be Thursday August 12th 2021.
This public holiday is the beginning of the new Islamic year 1442. The Hijri New Year is the day where the Prophet Mohammed migrated from Makkah to Madinah.
As it is an Islamic holiday, hotels and bars are prohibited from serving licensed beverages and hosting live performances of any sort. Muslims do not mark this holiday with public celebrations as happens on International or Lunar New Year.
The FAHR circular said regular work will resume on Sunday, August 15, 2021.
