Eid al-Adha Middle East

A five-day holiday for Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha 2021 has been announced in Oman.

According to the royal orders issued, all public, as well as private sector entities, will enjoy a holiday from Dhu al-Hijjah 8 (Sunday, July 18th) until Dhu al-Hijjah 12 (Thursday, July 22th). Regular work will resume on Sunday, July 25th 2021.

As this covers all the working days in that week, Omani residents will enjoy a nine-break to mark Eid.

Eid al-Adha is an Islamic religious holiday on the 12th of Dhu al-Hijjah, the final month in the lunar calendar. The holiday began as a way to celebrate Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son to show obedience to God’s command. Eid al-Adha is celebrated worldwide as a time for Muslims to sacrifice for Allah and share with their family and neighbours.
