Eid al-Adha

Dates of Eid Al Adha public holidays in UAE confirmed

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources of the United Arab Emirates has announced that Eid Al Adha and Arafat day for the public sector will fall on Dhu Al-Hijjah 9 until Dhu Al-Hijjah 12, 1442.

These dates correspond to Monday July 19th 2021 to Thursday July 22nd 2021. Official working hours will resume on Sunday July 25th 2021.

On the occasion, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) extended its best wishes to the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

At the moment, the announcement made pertains only to the public sector. But remember, under the direction of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai and Vice President of the UAE both the private and public sectors are now granted equal holiday days every year.

Eid al-Adha is an Islamic religious holiday on the 12th of Dhu al-Hijjah, the final month in the lunar calendar. The holiday began as a way to celebrate Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son to show obedience to God’s command. Eid al-Adha is celebrated worldwide as a time for Muslims to sacrifice for Allah and share with their family and neighbours.
