Eid Al Fitr holidays announced for UAE

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced the Eid Al Fitr holidays for 2021 for the private sector.

According to a tweet by the ministry, Ramadan 29 from Shawwal 3 of 1442 Hijri will be paid holidays on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr

Earlier, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources confirmed that public sector employees will also get days off in celebration of Eid, starting from the 29th day of Ramadan to the 3rd day of Shawwal according to the Islamic calendar.

In recent years, the public sector and private sector holidays have been the same.

While the exact dates remain subject to moon-sighting, the 29th of Ramadan corresponds to Tuesday May 11th 2021.

If Ramadan lasts 29 days, residents will have a four-day break from Tuesday May 11th, to Friday May 14th. If Ramadan lasts 30 days, employees in the UAE will get a five-day break from Tuesday May 11th, to Saturday May 15th.

As it stands, The 3rd day of Shawwal is expected to be on Saturday, May 15th 2021. The final dates should be confirmed by Wednesday May 13th.

On the occasion, the Authority conveyed its congratulations to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates.

The Authority also offered greetings to the people of the UAE and Arab and Islamic nations around the world.
