Ghanian government declares Monday, May 3 as a public holiday

Monday May 3rd 2021 is to be observed as a statutory public holiday in Ghana, the Interior Ministry has said.

According to a statement from the Ministry, the additional day is to mark the Workers’ Day celebration, which is a Statutory Public Holiday, but falls on a weekend in 2021.

The general public is hereby notified that Saturday May 1st 2021 marks May Day (Workers’ Day) which is a Statutory Public Holiday.

However, in view of the fact that May 1st 2021  falls on a Saturday, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has by Executive Instrument  (E.I), in accordance with  Section  2 of the  Public Holidays and Commemorative  Days Act, (Act 601) declared  Monday May 3rd 2021 as an additional Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.
