Public Holidays for 2021 in the Canary Islands Announced

The Governing Council of the Canary Islands have approved the proposal of the Ministry of Economy, Knowledge and Employment, the draft decree to determine the calendar of public holidays of the Autonomous Community in 2021, within the annual limit of 14 days.

Specifically, the file processed by the Ministry, in application of state legislation, defines as non-working days for labour purposes, paid and non-recoverable, all Sundays of the year and the holidays of: January 1st, New Year; January 6th, Epiphany of the Lord; April 1st, Holy Thursday; April 2nd, Good Friday; May 1st, Labor Festival; August 16th, Holiday for the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin to replace Sunday August 15th; October 12th, National Holiday of Spain; November 1st, All Saints; December 6th, Day of the Spanish Constitution; December 8th, Immaculate Conception, and December 25th, Nativity of the Lord.

In addition, the following local holidays will be observed on the islands: February 2nd, Feast of the Virgen de la Candelaria, in Tenerife; July 3rd, Descent of the Virgen de los Reyes, in El Hierro; August 5th, Our Lady of the Snows, in La Palma; September 8th, Nuestra Señora del Pino, in Gran Canaria; September 15th, Our Lady of the Volcanoes, in Lanzarote; September 17th, Our Lady of the Rock, in Fuerteventura, and October 4th, Our Lady of Guadalupe, in La Gomera.
