Indian Bank Holidays in October 2020

After a quiet couple of months for bank holidays, October is disrupted right at the start with Gandhi’s Birthday on Friday October 2nd. The second half of the month brings the major festivals of Durga Puja and Dussehra. The end of the month also sees Eid-eMilad, which is a gazetted holiday in most states.

It is useful to know when then banks are closed, so you can plan any necessary transactions in advance and withdraw cash early to avoid empty ATMs. We recommend planning to obtain any cash by the middle of the month.

In total, banking services in India will be affected in some manner on 13 out of the 31 days in October 2020.
