Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Jordanian government has decided to extend the holiday for the public institutions and bodies until the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The decision excludes key government entities which will continue to be operated by no more than 30% of its staff or 50% when necessary.
Key private sector entities such as banks and hospitals are not included in the decision.
“The state treasury will bear the value of the loan interest for those whose work was suspended due to the crisis,” the Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, stated during a press briefing at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management.
“It was decided, on the recommendation of the Ministry of Transport and the specialized teams, to allow the public transport sector to resume its work as of next Wednesday with a workforce not exceeding 50% in all governorates and regions of the Kingdom,” the Minister added.
