In a bid to implement President Joko Widodo’s directives regarding mudik season (the mass exodus before Eid) and replacement of Eid 2020 holidays, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy on Thursday April 9th 2020 led a Ministerial Coordination Meeting on the amendment of Joint Ministerial Decree on National Holidays and Collective Leave 2020.
Based on the meeting, the dates of several Cuti Bersama (collective leave) will be changed:
Besides the official holidays, there are the so-called “libur bersama” or “cuti bersama”, or collective/joint leave(s) declared in Indonesia by the government to lengthen the duration of holiday breaks.
The replacement of collective leaves to the end of 2020 has been made taking into account that the mitigation of COVID-19 pandemic has been well-implemented. In addition, the leaves will be on school holidays so that family can have time to plan their vacation.
The Minister also reminded people not to participate in mudik and celebrate holidays in their homes.
