Ambedkar’s Birthday declared a holiday by India’s central government

The Central Government of India has declared April 14th, the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar, as a closed holiday for all its offices, according to a Personnel Ministry order. The Centre has also notified the holiday under the Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, for banks.

“It has been decided to declare Tuesday, April 14th, as a closed holiday on account of the birthday of Dr BR Ambedkar, for all Central Government offices including industrial establishment throughout India,” read a statement.
