Saudi Arabia declares official holiday for those unable to return home

Saudi Arabia has suspended all international flights for two weeks as countries across the gulf step up precautions against the spread of the coronavirus.

The suspension will take effect at 11 a.m. (0800 GMT) on Sunday March 15th 2020 and will be treated as an official holiday, state news agency SPA reported, citing an unnamed source at the Interior Ministry.

“This (will be) an exceptional official holiday for citizens and expatriates who were unable to return due to the suspension of flights or they were in quarantine after their return back to the Kingdom,” the source said.
