Haryana brings date for Janmashtami forward to August 23rd

The Haryana government led by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, has declared a public holiday on Friday August 23rd 2019 for Janmashtami .

Originally Krishna Janmashtami was gazetted for Saturday August 24th.

As per the Haryana general administration department circular, all government offices, schools and educational institutions will remain closed.

“Friday, the 23rd August, 2019 shall be observed as a Gazetted Holiday in Government Offices, Boards, Corporations, Educational and other institutions under Haryana Govt on the occasion of Janmashtami,” the notification read.

This is one of the most important Hindu festivals, Janmashtami is the birthday of Lord Krishna, the eighth re-incarnation of Lord Vishnu who gave the vital message of the Bhagwat Gita – the guiding principles for every Hindu.
