Qatar has announced that government employees in the country will get Eid Al Fitr holidays from April 19th to 27th 2023.
The Ruler’s Court announced Eid Al Fitr holidays for the employees of the ministries and other government agencies, public bodies and institutions on Sunday. According to the announcement, the official holidays will start on Wednesday April 19th, and end on Thursday April 27th. Work will resume on April 30 after the weekend.
For banks and financial institutions working under the supervision of Qatar Central Bank (QCB), and Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA), the Governor of QCB shall specify the start and the end of the holiday.
Eid al-Fitr is celebrated on the first day of the month of Shawwal, which follows Ramadan as the 10th month of the lunar-based Islamic calendar.
Like the start of Ramadan, the date of Eid is established by the sighting of the crescent moon, which generally appears one night after the new moon, and marks the onset of the month of Shawwal, the tenth of the Islamic Hijri calendar.
