Indonesia announces Public Holidays in 2021

Even though 2020 has been a washout for holidays, the Indonesian government has released the public holiday and collective leave schedule for 2021.

This decree has been stated in the Joint Decree on National Holidays and Joint Leave in 2021 signed by the Minister of Religion, the Minister of Manpower, and the Minister for Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform.

The longest break takes place in mid-May for Ascension Day then Eid Al-Fitr. Originally the break was meant to run from May 10th – 17th, but it has been adjusted to May 12th – 19th.

Meanwhile, for Christmas, there is an additional joint leave on December 27th to compensate for Christmas Day falling on a Saturday.

Citizens will enjoy six long weekends in 2021. Note the run of Tuesday holidays in the second half of the year, which can be used with vacation days to create some extra long breaks.

In total, there will be 23 public holidays and collective leave days, but that is of course subject to change, especially amid uncertainties during the coronavirus pandemic.

Here are the 2021 public holiday and collective leave days:
