The Egyptian Minister of Manpower Mohamed Saafan announced that Eid El-Fitr holiday will be for five days starting from Sunday May 24th 2020.
The five-day paid holiday is part of the government’s efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Previously the government had announced a five-day holiday for public-sector employees during Eid El-Fitr and extended the nightime curfew to begin from 5 p.m. during the week.
For Muslims, Eid El-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. It’s a joyful holiday when the faithful celebrate the completion of 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting.
