To enable every Kenyan to participate in the celebration of the life of former president Moi, the CS Interior has declared Tuesday 11th 2020 a public holiday.
Tuesday February 11th 2020, has been declared a public holiday of general observance to enable Kenyans pay their last respects to the late H.E. Daniel Toroitich arap Moi, C.G.H., Second President of the Republic of Kenya.
“In exercise of the powers conferred to me by Section 3 of the Public Holidays Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Co-ordination of National Government declares Tuesday 11, 2020, to be a public holiday throughout Kenya in order to accord all Kenyans an opportunity to attend the national memorial service of the life f the late H.E Daniel Toroitich arap Moi,” read the gazette notice.
Daniel Arap Moi was the second president of Kenya and the country’s longest-serving head of state, ruling from 1973 – 2002.
Moi died on Tuesday February 4th 2020 while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi hospital.
