Public Holiday in Namibia for Elections on Nov. 27

Namibian President Hage Geingob has declared November 27th as a national holiday to enable Namibians to take to the polls for both Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The announcement is in accordance with the powers vested in the president, Namibia’s Ministry of Information and Communication Technology said in a statement.

The ministry urged all Namibians to make use of the opportunity and exercise their democratic rights on this day and choose the leaders who will take office for the next five years.

The nation’s electoral commission’s final list of registered voters stands at 1.3 million people, which is more than the 1.2 million recorded in the previously held national elections.
